the “aggressive lobbying campaign” was designed to boost the sales of Merck’s Gardasil, the only vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the few strains of the human papillomavirus that it affects.

Its costs are estimated to be in the $360-$400 per person range, which could have meant billions in revenue for the company, depending on the number of state legislatures convinced that requiring the vaccine is appropriate.

Money. They wanted to push a drug on our daughters to make money? To prevent a disease that is only contracted through having sex?

If this is a real health threat then the best way to prevent it is to promote abstinence. As in “do not commit adultery.”

I’m not real sure why that is so hard to understand. Oh…wait…because people can’t make money from NOT having sex.
